Dick Goodwin lays down the lead line on trumpet for the VCJB. He is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of South Carolina (USC) and the recipient of the 2001 Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Individual Artist Award (the highest honor given in the arts by South Carolina). In addition to his considerable accomplishments as a music educator and performing artist, Dick is active as an arranger, composer, and recording studio producer, with numerous albums, jingles, industrial shows, and films to his credit. His compositions, in virtually every idiom from jingle to opera, jazz band to orchestra, have been performed across the US and abroad. He also leads the Dick Goodwin Big Band, and his Quintet, (which has toured extensively across the nation and abroad) has just released a new CD, “Studio Time.”
